Meet Your Doula & Student Midwife, Gabrielle Wachter

Here to support your unique journey with warmth, knowledge, and understanding. This is my calling. This is my ministry.

Becoming a mother is a life-changing journey, filled with joy and moments of uncertainty. As a certified birth and postpartum doula, I offer emotional, physical, and informational support so you can feel confident and cared for every step of the way.

My approach is rooted in empathy, calm presence, and respect for your unique birth story.

I’ve birthed 3 children, and have served as a Doula for 8 years, guiding families with warmth and reassurance. My goal is to help you embrace your own strength and welcome your baby in a way that feels right for you.

My grandmother was a R.N., and her mother birthed her siblings at home before African Americans were allowed in the hospital.

It is my mission to honor physiological birth, with supportive evidence based resources to guide along the way.

What Families Often Ask

Here are some of the questions I’m most often asked about my doula services. If you can’t find your answer here, feel free to reach out — I’m happy to help.

  • A doula provides emotional, physical, and informational support before, during, and after birth — but does not perform medical tasks. A midwife is a trained healthcare provider who manages the clinical aspects of pregnancy and birth. Many families choose to have both.

  • The earlier, the better! Most families reach out during the second trimester, but I sometimes take bookings later in pregnancy if my schedule allows.

  • Yes! I support families in hospitals, birth centers, and at home. My role is to make sure you feel comfortable and empowered in any setting.

  • Absolutely. I work alongside your partner to help them feel confident, supported, and included in the birth experience. My presence frees them to focus on you without the pressure of remembering every detail.

  • I always have a trusted backup doula available if I’m unexpectedly unable to attend. We arrange an introduction in advance so you feel comfortable.

  • Yes. I understand that doula care is an important investment, and I’m happy to discuss flexible payment options.

  • 🧠 Evidence-Based Information
Clear explanations of labor progress and what’s happening in the body
Encourages shared decision-making between you and your care provider
📉 Improved Birth Outcomes (Shown in Research)
Increased satisfaction with the birth experience
Gentle processing of the birth experience

  • Answers questions, offers resources, comfort measures, labor positions, coping techniques, emotional support and encouragement as you prepare for birth, continuous physical support, Creates a calming environment,
Supports your partner and helps them feel confident and involved, Encourages informed decision-making without judgment or agenda, newborn care and postpartum recovery

Gabrielle and twins
We cannot say enough wonderful things about Gabrielle. From the very beginning, she was amazing with our twins and an incredible support as we balanced caring for them in addition to our oldest son. Her calm, nurturing presence and deep knowledge immediately put us at ease during the postpartum period.
